Drive belts and tensioners turn the accessories on your inboard marine engine: alternator, raw water pump, power steering pump, and circulating water pump. Marine belts wear faster than automotive belts because they handle constant load and water exposure, and a failed belt often takes out cooling or charging at the same time. Replacement belts and tensioners are some of the cheapest preventive maintenance you can do on an inboard engine, and they often prevent more expensive failures down the line.
